Loved the Women’s Conference this evening! I particularly enjoyed Sister Oscarson’s talk on being defenders of the proclamation. She said; "[T]here is a war going on in this world in which our most cherished and basic doctrines are under attack...specifically of the doctrine of the family. The sanctity of the home and the essential purposes of the family are being questioned, criticized and assaulted on every front.” She urged us as women of the church to be steadfast defenders of the truth. To defend marriage between a man and a woman, elevate divine roles of mothers and fathers and to stand and defend the sanctity of the home. “Let us defend the home as a place which is second only to the temple in holiness.” We may not directly have to defend our beliefs in front of an angry mob, but we can continually be examples and defend our beliefs every day.

Birthday Surprises
My roommates are awesome, for my birthday this year they threw me a surprise party on Wednesday. I went with Hannah to the Marketplace. Attempting to stall, Hannah asked if we could walk home instead of taking the bus. "Sure!" I said, completely oblivious to everything that was going on. When we got back to the apartment building, I noticed Aleta sitting in the main lounge with balloons everywhere, slightly confused, I somehow found myself opening the door and my friends and roommates yelling "SURPRISE!!" and throwing balloons everywhere. As tradition would have it, instead of standing there like a normal person, I bolted from the room. (For some reason, I do that every time my friends throw me a surprise party) Aleta caught me and I went back and played games and had a good time with my friends.

Lyndsey's birthday was on Friday, we went to Angie's to clean the sink (again).
Kartika, Aleta and Hannah also surprised Lyndsey and I by renting a puppy for an hour an a half. It was so much fun, the puppy's name was Rose and she was adorable. She seemed kind of done with people for the day, but we still had fun with her. :)
For my actual birthday (yesterday), my mom came up to Logan with my friends, Jessica and Erin. While Aleta gave Jess and Erin a tour of campus, I had fun hanging out with my mom and shopping with her. For dinner, we went out to eat at Olive Garden, my mom also brought up BYU mint brownies, it was an awesome birthday! It was a lot of fun to spend time with family and friends. Thank you to all who made my birthday the perfect day! :)
Managed to take a screenshot right on my actual birthday (I was born at 11:44 am...Haha) |

Spring Break in Summary
This past week was Spring Break and I had a lot of fun! It was nice to go on adventures with my family and friends and take a break from school.
Monday: I went with Kartika around Spanish Fork because she wanted to take pictures and edit them.
Tuesday: Went to Salt Lake with my mom, visited my dad at his work and went shopping.
Wednesday and Thursday: Went shopping again with my mom and visited my cousins in Payson.
Friday: I went with Kartika, Aleta and Joslyn to visit McKenzie at Snow College! It was fun to see her and get the high school group together again (minus McKenna who wasn't able to come with). We rode through old, dusty ghost towns and talked and laughed the whole way. And then we got slightly lost...it turned out that the hot pots were another hour away and we had already been driving for 45 minutes. We decided we didn’t have time to go the rest of the way, so we turned around and went on a random adventure instead around an old town. Towards the end of our adventure, we stopped at a sport’s grill in Manti called Fred’s. We ate and talked some more. We felt like a bunch of little old ladies who were just content to go for a drive, eat and visit. :)

Word on the Street #7
Lyndsey: "Hey look! A shooting star! Oh wait...that's a plane." (Who knew you could see a meteor shower in the middle of the day?)
Aleta: "I'm feeling great! With a capital G-R-A-T-E!"
A few weeks ago, I watched Great Gatsby with Lyndsey. After we finished the movie, I looked out the window in the dark and saw a green light in the distance. I stared at it. "Gatsby believed in the green light...hey how ironic!" I thought. "I'm seeing this mysterious green light and I just finished watching Great Gatsby. How weird is th-" Then the green light turned yellow. Then red. I realize I had been admiring a stoplight in the distance...

Throwback Thursday: Girl's Camp!
I was looking through my pictures and I found pictures from my last year at Girl's Camp, nearly two years ago. That was definitely my favorite year ever! My mom was able to be one of my cabin leaders and I had the opportunity to be a Youth Camp Leader (YCL), I was in charge of the first years. I had so much fun with them! I read them bedtime stories, we went on hikes, went canoeing, sang songs, performed skits and enjoyed having fun and learning more about the Gospel. I found a blurb about Girl's Camp I wrote after this experience: "I think I can honestly say this has been my favorite year of Girl's Camp, because this year as a YCL, it wasn't about me. It was about the girls I was serving and helping, my first years. What greater joy can we experience than serving our fellow men and in this case our sisters, while also serving our loving Heavenly Father? I learned so much at girls camp this year, but it wasn't anything anyone sat down and taught me, it was through my own experiences and spending time with and serving the first years. I developed a feeling of love and charity for all of them and also for the YCL's in my cabin. I don't think I've bonded with any group of girls at girls camp in the past as I did this one. I returned with new friends, deeper friendships, sunburned arms and a stronger testimony."
