Last night for my Creative Arts class, I went to the ballet “Beauty and the Beast”. Tickets must not have sold particularly well because at the door, the employees told us we could trade our not so great student balcony tickets for tickets on the floor close to the front! We sat down and the ballet began. I don't know much about ballet to appreciate it as much as others do. All I can say is that it was more interesting than I had anticipated...but I didn't know what was going on a good portion of the time. Guess I'm just not used to such high society events. ;) However it was fun being with Hannah, Maddie and Aleta that evening! :)

Where's Harry?
My roommates and I play an ongoing game called “Where’s Harry?” We started hiding a Harry Potter lego figure around the apartment and whoever finds it first gets to hide it again. I started out the game and several weeks later Aleta found it…however Aleta has been the last one to hide it for about a month and a half. This has caused a rebellion amongst the rest of us, we’ll randomly organize search parties and ransack the apartment for evidence of Harry. Unfortunately none of us have been able to find him…yet.

Word on the Street #3
Me: "Why is everyone eating so early?"
Karika: "I have to leave."
Lyndsey: "I’m hungry!"
Aleta: "It’s 5:00!"
Lyndsey: “Looks suspiciously under couch cushion*
Me: What are you doing?
Lyndsey: A fly flew under my cushion! Oh…I think it’s dead now.
Brother Johnson (at our ward linger longer) : "We only had a budget to do either salad or cake. Obviously I chose the cake..."

Meet the Mormons
I was able to go and see Meet the Mormons today with my YSA stake. It was amazing! If you haven't seen it yet, go see it now! The movie follows six Mormon families and just shows how they live their lives and live the Gospel.(Warning! You may go and shed a few tears!) I love this Gospel and I am very grateful for the knowledge that Heavenly Father loves us. We each have a part to contribute in his eternal plan. I am a Mormon, I know it, I live it and I love it!

Word on the Street #2
More random conversations...
"Would it be weird if I walked across the hall and closed our neighbor’s door?"
"Would it be weird if I walked across the hall and closed our neighbor’s door?"
"Yes, what would you do if someone closed our door?"
"I would know we were being too loud. They’re loud! I can’t sleep!"
"Have you tried to sleep?"
"No…not yet."
Lyndsey: "Don't move back Hannah."
Me: "It sounded like you were giving her some psychological advice."
Lyndsey: "Don't look back Hannah, only move forward in life."
Hannah: "Thank you Sensei."
Lyndsey: "You're welcome young grasshopper."
Aleta: Want to know what's weird guys? We're going to be friends for like...ever!"

General Conference!
"A fine member of the Church was talking with a neighbor who was not of our faith. When the topic of discussion turned to general conference, the neighbor asked, “You say you have prophets and apostles? And twice a year in a worldwide conference they reveal the word of God?”
“Absolutely,” the member replied with confidence.
The neighbor thought about that for a moment. He seemed genuinely interested and then asked, “What did they say in the last general conference?”
At this point the good member of the Church went from feeling excited about sharing the gospel to feeling embarrassed. Try as he might, he couldn’t think of the details of a single talk.
His friend found this troubling and said, “You mean to tell me that God speaks to man in our day and you can’t remember what He said?”
The brother felt humbled by this exchange. He vowed that he would do better to remember the words spoken by the Lord’s servants in general conference.
We all know how hard it is to remember every message of general conference, and I’m confident that we need not be embarrassed if we don’t remember everything. Nevertheless, there are messages in each general conference given as a gift and a blessing from heaven specifically for our personal life situations."
(Dieter F. Uchdorf, General Conference-No Ordinary Blessing https://www.lds.org/liahona/2011/09/general-conference-no-ordinary-blessing?lang=eng)
Happy Conference weekend everyone! I love general conference, it's always so exciting to listen to the words our modern day prophets and apostles have to say to us. Their messages are truly inspired of God and they provide us with guidance and strength in our day. The quote from the talk I shared of President Uchdorf's: "You mean to tell me that God speaks to man in our day and you can't remember what He said?" Stuck out to me, I hope we can all take note of what's being said in conference now and strive to improve. God speaks to us in our day! That is such an amazing blessing we have, many people think that the Heavens are closed and all that God has to say has already been said, but there is so much more we can learn and insights to gain through our modern prophets and apostles. We can also receive personal revelation in our own lives when we seek His guidance. So, again Happy Conference weekend! I hope we can all strive to get more out of this general conference and remember what has been said to strengthen ourselves, our families and those around us.

TBT: Friends!
Throwback Thursday: My best friends gave me a surprise party for my 18th birthday in March. My friends are all amazing people, I’m so grateful for each of them. All of the guys in this picture are on their missions or have their call and all the girls in this picture are in college working hard! I am so grateful for my good friends and the examples they are to me. "We need to measure very carefully who our true friends are. The measure of a true friend is one who will not have us choose between his way and the Lord's way. A true friend makes it easier to live the commandments of The Lord. A true friend will not let us do anything we want. True friends will correct us when we do something wrong and bring us back on the straight and narrow path that leads to exaltation."-Elder Robert D. Hales

October!
“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn't it? Look at these maple branches. Don't they give you a thrill--several thrills?”
